Recommendations for those who travel to Cuba.

Hour: Cuba is governed by the hour of the meridian 75° to the west of meridian 0 or Greenwich meridian, but between the months of October and April the clocks go ahead one hour in order to take maximum advantage of the sunlight. The hour in Cuba is the same as the Atlantic coast of North America, also known as "Eastern Standard Time, or, by its abbreviations in English, EST ".
Medical Attention: This is totally guaranteed. In the tourist resorts there are international clinics, pharmacies and other centers where it is possible to receive attention of the highest level. In cases of medical urgency, it is also possible to receive attention in any unit of the national health network. The high quality of the medical services in Cuba and the high qualifications of the Cuban doctors are internationally recognized.
Communications: For international calls from Cuba mark 119, then the code of the country and the locality, and finally the number required. In order to call Cuba you must mark the area code of the international exit corresponding to the country where one is, then mark 53 that is indicative of Cuba, finally dial the code of the locality and the required number.
Clothes: Cotton or linen are the recommended clothes, comfortable, and able to allow for sweating. For the winter, a light woolen jacket is sufficient. Footwear must be light and comfortable, preferably made with materials that allow for sweating, like leather or certain textiles. The use of a cap or hat is recommended for protection from solar rays.
Electricity: In Cuba the commercial electricity is single-phase of 110 volts and 60 Hertz. In some hotels the electricity is 220 volts and 60 Hertz. If your electrical equipment has round plug spikes you must bring an adapter with flat plugs spikes.
Protection Against Solar Rays: We recommended the use of solar protection products, because prolonged exposure to the rays of the sun can produce burns. If your skin is sensitive to the sun, or excessively white, we recommended the use of protection with a high number. Also the eyes should be protected by the use of dark lenses.
Water: The water in the Cuban cities and tourist centers is chlorinated and drinkable. You can consume prepared mineral water that in Cuba is of optimum quality, not just from the sanitary point of view as for its organoleptical qualities. It is on sale in all the facilities.
Drugs: If you take a medicine it is preferable that you bring sufficient amounts to cover all the period of your stay, inasmuch as this medicine might not to be sold in Cuba, so bringing sufficient amounts will avoid a visit to the doctor so that he can recommend a similar medicine.
Travelling: An extensive network of roads and freeways connects the country. The traffic is organized and signaled according to the international code and driving is on the right. In all the tourist centers are services of car rental -with or without driver -, taxis and motorcycles, and also daily flights and charter flights operate regularly. In the City of Havana and Varadero there is also a system of bus transport, with established routes and low prices.
